King's Gate Kitchen
A large and impressive kitchen to complement a new extension to a substantial granite home in Aberdeen's West End.
Working in collaboration with architect Derek Young, the large new extension featured lots of glass and the kitchen cabinets had to be of a scale and proportion to suit the new space.
We were also asked to include a long breakfronted line of extra tall household storage cabinets with deep drawers below.
Most of the cabinets were supplied with a classic hand painted finish in Farrow & Ball James White but the central island and the convex tall breakfast cupboard were supplied in rich grained Elm
We used beautifully grained local Elm from the Fetternear Estate in Aberdeenshire — all milled, seasoned and dried by Lethenty.
Bespoke features of note include a 3/4 height crockery cabinet next to dishwasher and one of the tall household storage cabinets that was fitted internally as a small household bureau with computer, printer, filing drawers etc.
Also, the end panels were made with painted steel panels — so the family can use magnetic letters to create messages.
