Camphill Community Kitchen
Lethenty Cabinetmakers were commissioned to design and make a kitchen for the Camphill Community in Aberdeen in 2025.
This kitchen was custom designed and made for a small residential home for a group of adults with learning difficulties.
Every aspect of the design was carefully considered to create a suitable environment to suit the needs of the residents.
The materials and construction methods were chosen for strength, utility and durability.
But just as importantly, we wanted the kitchen to be a calm, welcoming environment that feels easy to work in.
We chose unedged first quality Baltic Birch ply as the main component with the outer surfaces veneered in crown cut Ash veneer.
The cabinets were finished in a combination of clear lacquer and a lovely soft grey / green paint.

This was such a lovely project to be involved in. I think the ambiance of the kitchen feels right – simple, well thought out and built with integrity.
The room feels calm and relaxing with accents of colour to brighten the mood.

We were really pleased to have been asked to carry out this work. Camphill is a very special place
The community originated at Newton Dee Estate in Bieldside in the 1940s.
From simple beginnings, the movement has grown into an international network with over 100 Camphill Communities worldwide.
Each one is linked through a shared ethos; a desire to create social belonging and responsibility in our communities.
We are glad to have played a small part in supporting Camphill to continue this valuable work.
The kitchen design was created by Lethenty Cabinetmakers in collaboration with Zhanar Design and with Tom Stewart
of Camphill Architecture.
